Balboa Island Museum

Offering visitors and residents a place to remember and enjoy the history of the Island. They are also now collecting memorabilia of all kinds, including photographs and stories.

Located at 502 S. Bayfront, Unit A (on the 2nd floor), right next to the ferry, on the Island.

Balboa Pavilion

400 Main St, Balboa
This is one of California's last surviving examples of the great waterfront recreational pavilions from the turn of the century. Built in 1905 by the Newport Bay Investment Company, it played a prominent role in the development of Newport Beach as a seaside recreation area. In 1906, it became the southern terminus for the Pacific Electric Railway connecting the beach with downtown Los Angeles. The railway's Red Cars connected the beach with Los Angeles in only one hour.

The largest nautical museum in Orange County, California. Includes ship models, ship paintings, and special events.

Balboa Theater of Performing Arts

The Balboa Performing Arts Theater’s goal is to collaborate with local arts organizations such as Pacific Symphony, Opera Pacific, Saint Joseph Ballet, and many others, both large and small, to showcase their artists and present their art forms in new ways. Once open, the Balboa Performing Arts Theater will provide a home for up-and-coming musicians, singers, dancers and other performers who reside in Southern California. The theater will also offer arts education programs for children and adults to enhance their enjoyment and appreciation of all the arts.

Attractions and Things to Do

Balboa Island Ferry

Although Balboa Island is accessed by bridges from the mainland, why miss the opportunity to cross on the ferry! Balboa Island Ferry has provided continuous service between Balboa Island and Balboa Peninsula since 1919. This scenic crossing is about a quarter mile long and is open daily. Hours vary.Balboa Island:

More than 70 gift shops, galleries and restaurants here, many of which are on Marine Avenue, the village’s main artery. Balboa

Ferry: Cross from Balboa Island to the peninsula and back. Hours: 6 a.m.-midnight daily, extending to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. The fee starts at 50 cents.

Balboa Fun Zone

The Balboa Fun Zone is one of Southern California's oldest and last great coastal amusement areas. Attractions include the old horse carousel built in 1938, a 14-foot trampoline, laser tag, arcade and boat tours. Located on the Balboa Peninsula of Newport Beach.

The O.C. Cruiser
Ride The O.C. Cruiser to experience the best of Newport Beach!

Providing frequent service with three routes which allow for easy and convenient connections between hotels, the Newport Pier, Balboa Pier, Corona Del Mar, shopping areas such as Fashion Island, dining and evening entertainment. Visitors can count on The O.C. Cruiser to get them to Newport Beach's landmarks and hot spots. Cruisers are also available for charter.

FunRoll
Newport Beach / Huntington Beach

Group skating every week from Huntington Beach to Newport Beach and back. The FunRoll leaves from the pier at 10:30 a.m. on Saturdays. Anyone is welcome - so bring a friend! (No skating if it is raining, or the path is wet)

Offering the public unique opportunities in the Olympic water sports of rowing, canoeing, kayaking and outrigger canoe competition. The public can enjoy use of our kayaks and canoes by renting by the hour

One of the finest and most scenic small boat harbors in the world winds its way back to Newport Dunes, a favorite gathering place for water-oriented family fun. A calm water beach is great for sunbathing and swimming with the kids

Newport Landing - Sportfishing

Offering open party fishing trips, day charters & overnight trips. Newport Landing's Coast Guard licensed skippers know the most productive fishing grounds and how to get there fast, with modern craft designed for maximum fishing action! Featuring state-of-the-art navigational and fishing electronics! Some of the extra comforts their boats offer include indoor snack bars & outdoor sundecks with seating. Whale watching excursions also run from December - April.

Upper Newport Bay

Bordering Newport Back Bay, the Nature Preserve provides vistas of the coastal wetlands, which are reminiscent of the historic landscape of much of Alta California. Renowned as one of the finest birding sites in North America, several endangered species make this natural preserve their home.

While there, visit the Muth Interpretive Center with it's exhibits and interactive displays.
