The event will raise money for the research that
will lead to cures for retinal degenerative diseases,
including retinitis pigmentosa (RP), macular degeneration,
Usher syndrome, Stargardt disease, and numerous
others. These diseases affect more than nine million
Americans of all races and ethnic groups, young
and old. More than 600 members of the community
are expected to participate in this year's Walk.

Over the last 25 years, this event has raised
over $1,600,000 to benefit the Special Olympics
and other worthwhile charities. These funds help
make it possible to operate year-round sports
training programs and competitions for mentally
handicapped children and adults. The Vince Ferragamo
Foundation was developed to establish additional
fundraising events to benefit Special Olympics
and other qualified non-profit organizations.

The festival includes a fall parade and two day
carnival at El Centro Park. The Corn Festival
Parade is open to most any group that wants to
participate. Applications may be obtained at the
La Habra Chamber of Commerce or from Pageantry
Productions in South Gate. The parade is one of
the largest daytime parades in southern California.
