With

The
FDA-cleared Fraxel Laser Treatment improves
both the top layers of skin by eliminating wrinkles
around the eyes and pigmented lesions such as
sun spots and melasma, as well as affecting
the deeper skin layers by giving the supporting
tissue a boost to help the skin feel softer,
smoother and tighter. The Fraxel laser produces
tiny, microscopic areas of thermal wounds in
a dot-like grid, leaving surrounding areas of
untouched healthy skin. Healthy cells in the
untouched areas promote rapid healing of the
entire area resulting in cellular regeneration
without significant downtime.
The
procedure can be performed in the office using
topical anesthesia. For additional comfort,
a cool air blower is often used. Treatment takes
about 30 minutes, depending on the size of the
area(s) being treated. Because the procedure
does not ablate or remove the outer skin layer,
patients can resume routine activities right
after treatment including application of makeup.
The skin may have a pinkish tone for several
days. Swelling is minimal and generally resolves
within 48 hours.
For optimal improvement, a series of 3 to 5
treatments has been shown to be most effective.
Results are immediate and progressive, with
noticeable, beneficial effects accumulating
over one to three months.
