For over 20 years, Southwind Kayak Center offers various learning opportunities for entry-level and skilled paddlers alike with their knowledgeable & friendly instructors. From a full-on instructional class for those wishing to learn the basics; to paddling on open waters; to learning the exhilarating techniques of surf paddling. Family Kayaking classes are offered for those looking for lessons for young children.

Using the Smart Fish Method

Healthy babies can start as young as one month in either parent participation or private lessons at our swim school. By the time a baby can crawl, he is able to learn survival swim skills that can potentially save him from drowning. Water Safety Concerns and Learning are NOT seasonal. When your own pools are too cold to use, children can continue learning in a warm swim school pool year-round. We recommend students off ALL ages learn to swim by recovering for air by rolling laterally into a stable, safer, back-float position. - A “Swim~Float~Swim” Method, like “The Smart Fish Method”, has prevented babies and toddlers from drowning, and easily transitions into Freestyle and Backstroke.
