4th of July Races & Parade
Sunday, July 4, 2021

For over 50 years, runners have kicked off 4th of July festivities with the race of their choice: the 5K Road Race/Walk or the 10K Epic Challenge. Racers will navigate through the scenic landscape of Orange Park Acres, where horses and other animals are among the spectators. After the races, participants and spectators will enjoy the annual parade where decorated antique cars, tractors, walking groups, community organizations, and of course, horses, will take to the street to celebrate the 4th of July. All the fun begins in front of Salem Lutheran Church.

This year, in addition to seeing many of the OPA residents and their animals in the parade, you'll also find Camino De Santiago Nature School students and teachers walking the parade route, and tossing baggies to children filled with earth pigment paints, a paint brush, a pre-addressed blank postcard with instructions to paint it and mail it to the senior it is addressed to. “Directors from the senior centers have ensured us that their residents would love to receive a personalized hand-painted postcard from a child,” said School Founder and Director Dawn Robinette. “Most years, our students visit a senior center during the holidays to sing carols and color pictures with the residents. This year, our students were not able to do that and so now is an optimal opportunity for the students and children from the whole community to connect with senior residents,” explained Robinette.

Parade starts at Salem Lutheran Church
6500 E. Santiago Canyon Road
Orange, CA.
