ANAHEIM

Anaheim Cemetery Memorial Day Program
Monday, May 27, 2024
11 am

The Orange County Cemetery District will once again host in person Memorial Day Services honoring veterans at all three of the District's cemeteries; Anaheim Cemetery, El Toro Memorial Park and Santa Ana Cemetery.

The program is sponsored by the American Legion Post 72 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3173. The observance will include special guest speakers, a wreath presentation and a Rifle Volley Salute. The Orange County Cemetery District wishes to thank all of the many volunteers who are making this program possible.

BREA

Veterans of War Memorial Day Event
Monday, May 27, 2024
7:30AM - 2:30PM

We will be hosting our yearly event here at Memory Garden Memorial Park & Mortuary to honor our veterans. Visitor's are welcome to come down to view the flags during and after their placement. We ask volunteer's to arrive between 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM.

Memory Garden's first "Avenue of the Flags" displayed six flags on May 30, 1958. Today there are over 1100 full size burial flags flown each Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Each one of these flags was given by a grateful nation to the family of a Veteran at the time of his or her passing. The grave of each Veteran interred in our cemetery will also be decorated with a white cross and a miniature flag.

Help honor and remember the courageous men and women who fought for our freedom by joining the Freedom Committee of Orange County and the Stanley W. Ekstrom Foundation for its 70th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony.

The City of Irvine hosts its annual Memorial Day Ceremony in the Formal Garden. Attendees can memorialize our troops’ sacrifice by writing down a brief remembrance that will be posted on a memory board at the event. Cards are provided for well-wishers to send a message of appreciation and support to members of Irvine’s adopted 2/11 Marine Battalion.

LAGUNA HILLS

Memorial Day Half Marathon
Monday, May 27, 2024

Honoring the United States Marine Corps Dark Horse Battalion, this favorite Memorial Day running event takes place in the beautiful Orange County cities of Laguna Hills, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Woods, and Laguna Niguel. Runners and walkers of all experience levels are invited to come out and enjoy the Memorial Day festivities!

With a half marathon (13.1 miles), 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles), 10K Run/Walk (6.2 miles) and a Kid's Run (1/2 Mile), there is something for everyone!

LAKE FOREST

El Toro Memorial Park Memorial Day Program
Monday, May 27, 2024
11 am

The Orange County Cemetery District will once again host Memorial Day Services honoring veterans at all three of the District's cemeteries; Anaheim Cemetery, El Toro Memorial Park and Santa Ana Cemetery.

The program is free to the public and will take place rain or shine. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs and seating for 500 will be provided.

The program typically includes a special keynote speaker, the reading of General Logan's Order, the recognition of attending Veterans and Blue and Gold Star Mothers, and a wreath presentation by representatives from the surrounding cities. The program also includes an Honor Guard Firing Salute provided by member of VFW Post 6024. Special music is provided by the Master Chorale of Saddleback Valley, the playing of "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes and the sounding of "Taps' by a bugler. American Legion Chaplain Frank Cook will also provide a World War I Historical Display.

La Palma Memorial Day Ceremony

The Memorial Day Ceremony has become one of the most time-honored traditions in La Palma. Having existed for over 40 years, the Ceremony pays tribute to the dedication and sacrifices the men and women of our Nation’s Armed Forces have made. Every Memorial Day, the City of La Palma honors their service in defense of our Freedom and their sacrifice for Liberty throughout the world.

The Community Activities and Beautification (CAB) Committee is creating a historical registry of La Palma Community members who have served or are currently serving in the United States Military. If you would like to be a part of this registry or want to honor a friend or family member, come by the Community Services Department to pick up a form

MISSION VIEJO

Mission Viejo Memorial Day Virtual Ceremony
Monday, May 27, 2024
8:30 am

The ceremony will include guest speakers Colonel Matthew D. Lundgren, Commanding Officer of Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division; and Jeffrey Andrade, Veteran’s Administration, US Marine Corp, Retired along with a color guard, rifle salute, live vocal performance and taps. In addition, Commander William Leber, American Legion Post 281 will light the eternal flame of remembrance in honor of the fallen and in recognition of the Vietnam POW/MIA’s. Folks will receive a candle at the end of the ceremony and are encouraged to place it around the eternal flame memorial in remembrance of a fallen hero.

Memorial Day Services
2024 information coming

Annual Memorial Day services will be held at the United States National Submarine Memorial West, located at Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach.

The free event is open to the public and no advance reservations are needed. Observance will include speeches by local community leaders and submarine veterans and the “tolling the boats” ceremony during which each of the 52 U.S. submarines lost during World War Two is honored as a bell is tolled.

YORBA LINDA

Commemorate Memorial Day at the Nixon Library
Monday, May 27, 2024
10 am - 5 pm

Pay tribute to America’s fallen warriors on Memorial Day at the Nixon Library on Monday, May 27, 2024 at a wreath laying ceremony at 10:15 AM. Join US Army Specialist Juan Carlos Hernandez as he shares his story and delivers the keynote remarks. Juan is one of the veterans painted by President George W. Bush and part of the Portraits of Courage exhibit on display at the Nixon Library through May 19th.

At 11:00 AM the Huntington Beach Concert Band will perform its spectacular repertoire of patriotic favorites in the Nixon Library’s exact replica of America’s Grand Ball Room, more formally known as the White House East Room.
