Evening Cruises with Live Music

Dana Wharf Sportfishing in Dana Point offers our Evening Live Music Cruises on Saturdays. The cruise will be aboard the 95-foot Dana Pride which has upper deck seating as well as inside seating in it's large galley, making it one of the most comfortable rides on the water. The boat also features a full bar including wine, beer (domestic and imported), and mixed drinks. This trip cruises the harbor although sometimes the ship may venture outside, going to see the famous Dana Point headlands, weather permitting.

Ocean Institute

The public can join their scientists aboard the R/V Sea Explorer for an in-depth study of whales, dolphins and sea lions using customized state-of-the-art equipment including plankton nets, grab samplers, video microscopes and the dolphin-cam! Free Marine Mammal Lecture Series 2002 will run January through March.

Catalina
Daily boat departures to Catalina Island from San Pedro, Long Beach and Dana Point.

The adventure begins on board Catalina Express where sitting on an outside upper deck, you can take in ocean breezes or keep your eyes peeled to catch a glimpse of White-sided dolphins. Passengers on board Catalina Express can expect to arrive in Catalina in about an hour, from Long Beach, San Pedro or Dana Point. The Harbor houses 2,500 yachts within its two marinas, inside a one-and-a-half mile jetty. Complete harbor facilities include guest slips, a fuel dock, shipyard, launch ramp, boat rentals, yacht sales, community class instruction for all ages, fishing, windsurfing, jetskiing, kataking, boat charters, two yacht clubs, sailing association, ocean classroom labs, shops, restaurants, picnicking and a baby beach for young swimmers.

Dana Wharf Whale Watching

Our year-round whale watching cruises get our guests up close to watch these magnificent ocean creatures play in our coastal waters. Nov-April we go out looking for the California Grey Whale and May-Oct we go out looking for the magnificent Blue Whale. You'll also get the opportunity to see pods of dolphin (which sometimes number in the thousands) and sea lions. Come witness a variety of ocean mammals in their natural environments. Dana Point is ideally located and is said to be a reference landmark for the Whales by many ocean naturalists. Our captains are very experienced, and will educate you on the whales and dolphins.

Doheny State Beach

Situated next to Dana Point Harbor with easy access to restaurants, Dana Point Marine Life Refuge, swim beach and tide pools. Facilities include, Lifeguards, food & drink, rest rooms, showers, picnic areas, and fire rings. There are 120 tent and RV campsites as well as bike paths, campgrounds, rentals, hiking, surfing and volleyball.

Salt Creek Beach Park

Salt Creek is a popular surfing location. A small, offshore reef creates some of the best left swells along the entire shoreline. Swimming, body surfing, sunbathing and tidepool exploration are other beach activities.
